Primary Function
The part-time Development Associate will support the general functions of the Development Department including administrative responsibilities related to the Annual Fund. The position will also assist with events and general office tasks as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Database Administration
- Under the direction of the Director of Development Operations, maintains the integrity of the Tessitura database for Development through the quality control of data input and donation information while adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
- Coordinates the accurate and timely entry of all gift processing, receipting, acknowledging, monthly invoicing and pledge management activity.
- Maintains donor contact information, communication preferences and other pertinent information in Tessitura.
- Maintains hard and electronic filing system of deposits, backup documentation, donor communication, and historic files.
- Executes queries and ongoing reports, list pulls, and other data/reporting requests.
Annual Fund Coordination
- Under the direction of the Director of Development Operations, coordinate Annual Fund mailings for renewals, lapsed, and prospective donors. Generates mailing lists, merges and prints materials, fulfills mailings. Coordinates volunteers when needed.
- Maintains department supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipates needed supplies; places and expedites orders for supplies.
Special Events
- Assists with staffing, setup, and tear down of special events as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Familiar with word processing and spreadsheets.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously; process-focused.
- Must be able to handle confidential donor information with sensitivity, integrity, and accuracy.
- Aptitude for and willingness to learn new technologies.
- Ability to consistently demonstrate the Columbus Symphony’s values.
Credentials and Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Prior work experience in the arts or non-profit organization preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Requires flexibility with schedule to accommodate needs of the organization. Seasonal, volume-related and/or special projects may require occasional extended workdays, evenings and weekends with this position.
