Audio Technician - Lincoln Theatre

Position Summary

The Lincoln Theatre Association seeks an Audio Technician interested in a position that is a meaningful opportunity to gain hands-on experience working in Theatre production within a large nonprofit organization. This position supports the Executive Director, Technical Director and crew by providing support to ensure efficient event management of both signature programming and patron rentals. The associate is an active participant in ideation and implementation in all things Lincoln with the goal of creating a memorable experience for staff, artists, patrons and the community the Lincoln Theatre serves.

Primary Function

The audio technician sets up and prepares the soundboards and equipment for live productions at the Lincoln Theatre. You will work alongside sound & lighting technicians, stagehands, production assistant and other designated partners appointed for the success of the event. The work of an Audio Technician can vary depending on the production.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties vary and depend on assigned area. Duties may include:

  • Communicating frequently with the Technical Director for job specific details
  • Maintaining and repairing sound equipment.
  • Takes direction and cues from the Stage Manager.
  • Set up and correctly use Microphones, audio interfaces, equalizers and compressors
  • Keeps audio equipment in good and safe working condition.
  • Stays updated with new technology within the theatre industry.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Representing The Lincoln Theatre in the best possible light through a high standard of professionalism, conduct, and appropriate dress.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of audio interfaces and equipment.
  • Ability to ascend ladders, working at heights and carrying heavy equipment, with or without accommodation.

Credentials and Experience

  • Must be 18years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1-2 years’ experience working as audio technician or stagehand experience preferred

Special Requirements

Employment is contingent upon ability to complete a Background check.
